Located in the beautiful Cabinet Mountains of Northwest Montana, I offer hand carved, hand painted, one-of-a-kind items. I am a Specialty/Custom shop where I carve a variety of art and functional pieces. I pride myself in making Quality pieces that will be in your family and used for generations.

I am inspired and fortunate to live in The Kootenai River Valley in Northwest Montana. It is a beautiful place, surrounded by Wilderness Area, wonderful vistas of rugged mountains, there is even a permanent glacier in the mountains behind us! If you like to hike, fish, hunt, and enjoy the forested outdoors this one of the best place I know of.

I am a ‘Deep Relief’ and Freshwater Fish woodcarver. Deep Relief is carving a thick piece of wood with many layers of depth, from as deep as the wood allows in places to very subtle height differences. With the right airbrushing this brings out all the natural shadows giving a real feeling of depth. I also carve my 'Big Game' Series with Elk, Moose, Bear, Deer, and soon Mountain Goats. My Wall Pieces, mantles, and many coat racks are examples of my this style.

After fishing the Kootenai River area for many years I know a lot of creeks, lakes, and rivers where each species of trout is found, this allows me to see how the fish change from season to season and from stream to stream. After many photos and personal observations (which translates into fishing trips…) I then start to carve and paint each species. I am currently carving the Kootenai River Rainbow, Westslope Cutthroat, and German Brown.

I carve with white pine almost exclusively. Sometimes I use Spruce for bases and Lodgepole for various looks. White Pine is a semi-soft wood that is easy to carve, rarely any pitch to deal with, and polishes up very nice. It always has nice grain lines and can have beautiful blues, reds, and yellows running thru it. Once in awhile I carve a fish, get it all sanded and varnished, then don't paint it because the grain, colors, and shape meld into such a unique piece

Shipping: 36" coat racks are $25
24" are $20
Plaques and Keyracks are $15, and single wall fish are $10.
Mirrors: No shipping charge for mirrors frames because I stopped mailing the actual mirror (Glass), to much breakage. I pay the shipping and you buy the actual glass mirror.
